RMB UTCT 2022 Registration and Recap
What can we say? We are thrilled to be part of this iconic event of local and international interest. Our first involvement with UTCT was fantastic, we got to meet all of the runners at registration, and handed everyone Maurten Gels for their UTCT race. This interaction with the runners was special. Each athlete carrying a certain amount of nervous excitement, but knowing that they had Maurten to fuel their races took the nerves down just a bit.
The feedback we got was all positive, and looks like we are heading in the right direction. Going into the 2023 edition we will tweak the offering slightly and will be there to support you during your training towards the next one. THERE IS NO FINISH

Thank you for your incredible generosity during the race and pre race! I ran my first 100 miler and your gels were crucial to my success!! I would have loved to have tried your powder too but thank you. They are amazing and I was grateful to have them fuel me well to the finish.

Hi Dawn, that’s amazing. Well done on getting that one in the bag! Thanks for the feedback. We are glad we helped. Whats on your plans for next year?

Hi
I did not use your product on race day as need to have tried and tested a product before I race on it.
I did use it on a long trail run this past weekend over TM, and I really enjoyed the consistency of the Gel, easy to digest , not too sweet, and will use it on next race I do , be it trail or road running . One thing is that the tear off dud not work that well, as Gel was difficult to get out , this is a problem I had with Biogen product when they first introduced the tear off that ensures you don’t drop the tear-off piece. This is something you should consider as it stop litter of the tear-offs . Where do I get the UTCT discount voucher you refer too, as I’ll definitely order your product in future ,thanks
Neil

Hi Neil,
Thanks for this feedback. When you tear the gel tab off skew it will create a problem. Best method is to use both hands and as soon as you pull the tab off you consume the entire gel, and then slip the tab into the empty gel pouch, so as not to litter. Did you receive the email from us with the discount code? It was sent 13 December, and in the email the code was provided.

Hi Maurten,
Love your gels and your power bars, I raced on them both during UTCT. However by the end of the race it was all too sweet. Is it possible to make some of the race food with the same fuel content but none of the sweetness? Interesting challenge to hide the sugar taste as of course this gives the fuel.
Cheers,
Lucia

Hi Lucia,
Now that is a real challenge. If anyone can figure it out, Maurten will. As you say, the sweetness is a result of carrying the high volume of carbs. The work which the stomach and brain do to keep us alive is amazing. So, there is something in this relationship which should help you identify what you need and when you need it. Possibly a strategy for consideration is to alternate between low carb fuel (DM 160) and high car fuels (Gel 100 Solid 225) every hour.

Hey. As a participant and volunteer, my only disappointment was with the participants who still think that it is okay to throw their litter on the mountain. I do feel there needs to be more emphasis on the littering aspect. Overseas they would be disqualified from.these type.of races.
Maurten ZA · December 19, 2022 at 9:24 pm
This is a sad aspect of participating in races. It’s not an easy problem to tackle, but with enough awareness it will be reduced. We will add a mention to our packages next year to alert participants to this very important responsibility that they have. Thanks for your feedback
